Announcement, Press Release |
Chief Judge Charles S. Beach II announced today that he is establishing a focused committee to urgently review and improve communication procedures related to alleged violations within the Circuit Court of Cook County’s Electronic Monitoring (EM) program.
Chief Judge Beach said recent events highlight the need for clearly defined roles and timely information-sharing among the agencies involved in pretrial supervision.
“The safety of the public and the integrity of our court processes remain our highest priorities,” Judge Beach said. “We are committed to a transparent, evidence-based review that enhances accountability, improves coordination and reinforces the public’s trust in our justice system.”
The multidisciplinary committee will be charged with reviewing and strengthening how alleged violations are communicated, evaluated and acted upon. The group will clarify roles and responsibilities across partner agencies to ensure staff have the information they need when they need it, to fulfill their duties in support of public safety.
The committee, composed of representatives from court operations, pretrial services, law enforcement partners and other stakeholders in the EM workflow, will deliver concrete, actionable recommendations. Preliminary results are expected towards the end of January.
The committee’s findings and recommendations will be published upon completion of its review.
