About the Cook County Court System

The Circuit Court of Cook County is one of the nation’s largest unified court systems, served by nearly 400 judges across 17 divisions and districts.   We, along with our more than 2,600 employees, administer justice daily with fairness, efficiency and respect for every person who comes before our court.

This guide provides a general overview of the court’s structure, operations and services. We encourage you to take a few moments to review its contents. Inside, you’ll find descriptions of our divisions and districts, information about our Problem-Solving Courts and specialty dockets, and a directory of court facilities and partner agencies. Additional resources and updates are also available on our website.

We are committed to transparency, modernization and the ongoing improvement of the court’s service to the public. The dedication of our judges and employees continues to strengthen the administration of justice in Cook County and reflects our shared mission to earn and uphold the trust of the communities we serve.
