Data Request Notice – Please Read Before Submitting a Request

The Office of the Chief Judge reviews all data requests to ensure that data is disseminated in compliance with applicable state and federal laws, local ordinances, the Illinois Supreme Court rules, and any local court rules or orders. 

The court does not hold police reports, body-camera video or 911 recordings, and is not subject to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

Bulk Data Requests

Requests for bulk electronic court data are governed by General Administrative Order 2002-03, Bulk Electronic Data Dissemination Policy, as amended, and the Illinois Supreme Court Remote Access Policy (2026). The Office of the Chief Judge reviews each request and decides whether the data may be released. Before data is released, you must certify that you will not use it, directly or indirectly, to sell a product or a service. The Office of the Chief Judge is not required to approve any request for bulk electronic court data.

If a request is approved, the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County compiles and delivers the data and sets any fee for preparing it. If you have received a response letter from the Office of the Chief Judge and want to check the status of your request, email the Clerk’s Help Desk at helpdesk@cookcountycourt.com with your original request and the response letter attached, or call (312) 603-4357 (Press 2).

Certain data may be subject to confidentiality restrictions under state or federal law, court rule or administrative order. The Office of the Chief Judge may redact or deny portions of a request consistent with applicable authority.

The Office of the Chief Judge will review each submission individually and communicate its determination in writing.
