Jurisdiction
The Circuit Court of Cook County's Fifth Municipal District is made up of the following municipalities and townships in the southwestern suburbs of Cook County: the municipalities of Alsip; Bedford Park; Blue Island**; Bridgeview; Burbank; Burr Ridge*; Chicago Ridge; Crestwood; Countryside; Evergreen Park; Forest View; Hickory Hills; Hinsdale*; Hodgkins; Hometown; Indian Head Park; Justice; La Grange; Lemont*; Lyons; McCook; Merrionette Park; Midlothian**; Oak Forest; Oak Lawn; Orland Hills; Orland Park*; Palos Heights; Palos Hills; Palos Park; Stickney; Summit; Tinley Park*; Western Springs; Willow Springs*; Woodridge*; and Worth; and the Townships of Lemont, Lyons, Orland, Palos, Stickney, and Worth.
*Jurisdiction limited to geographic area within Cook County.
** Limited to criminal cases only. All other cases in Blue Island and Midlothian are heard in the Sixth Municipal District.

- Stalking/civil no contact orders
- Housing
- Eviction proceedings
- Small claims
- Licenses
- Misdemeanor criminal proceedings
- Felony preliminary hearings
- Ordinance and traffic enforcement
- Contract cases decided by alternative dispute resolution process
- Civil suits for damages up to $100,000
- Mandatory arbitration (less formal proceeding with a three-member panel deciding case) in suits with damages of $30,000 or less
- Name changes
- Marriage and civil union

- Law division tort cases seeking damages in excess of $100,000
