The Circuit Court of Cook County's Sixth Municipal District serves residents in the southern suburbs of Cook County which include the towns of Blue Island**, Burnham, Calumet City, Calumet Park, Chicago Heights, Country Club Hills, Crete*, Dixmoor, Dolton, East Hazel Crest, Flossmoor, Ford Heights, Glenwood, Harvey, Hazel Crest, Homewood, Lansing, Lynwood, Markham, Matteson, Midlothian**, Olympia Fields, Park Forest, Phoenix, Posen, Richton Park, Riverdale, Robbins, Sauk Village, South Chicago Heights, South Holland, Steger, Thornton and the Townships of Bloom, Bremen, Calumet, Rich, and Thornton.
*Jurisdiction limited to geographic area within Cook County.
**Criminal cases for Blue Island and Midlothian are heard in the Fifth Municipal District.

- Foreclosure cases
- Eviction proceedings
- Small claims
- Licenses
- Misdemeanor criminal proceedings
- Felony preliminary hearings
- Ordinance and traffic enforcement
- Contract cases decided by alternative dispute resolution process
- Civil suits for damages up to $100,000
- Mandatory arbitration (less formal proceeding with a three-member panel deciding case) in suits with damages of $30,000 or less
- Name changes
- Marriage and civil union
- Expungements / sealings (Zoom Information)
*The following types of cases are also heard in the municipal district courthouses:
- Felony criminal cases
- Domestic violence cases
- Domestic relations cases
- Juvenile justice cases
- Paternity and child support
- Law division tort cases seeking damages in excess of $100,000.

The Sixth Municipal District does NOT hear the following cases:
- Child Protection cases
- Probate cases
