CHICAGO – Due to weather-related power outages affecting court operations in the Fifth and Sixth Municipal Districts and Branch Courts 35 and 38 at 727 E. 111th St., the Circuit Court of Cook County has issued General Administrative Orders establishing temporary procedures for matters scheduled to be heard today, June 12, 2026.
The administrative orders are in effect to protect public safety and ensure essential court operations continue.
Sixth Municipal District (Markham Courthouse)
- All criminal cases scheduled for initial appearance and Electronic Monitoring violations of conditions of release will be heard at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, located at 2600 S. California Ave., Chicago, IL 60608.
- Felony preliminary hearings will be continued to June 22, 2026.
- All other felony matters will be continued to June 26, 2026.
- All traffic and misdemeanor matters will be continued to July 23, 2026.
- Initial appearances in domestic violence matters will be heard at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, 2600 S. California Ave., Chicago, IL 60608.
- New petitions for emergency civil Orders of Protection will be heard at the Domestic Violence Courthouse, located at 555 W. Harrison St., Chicago, IL 60607.
- Civil Orders of Protection return matters will be continued to July 2, 2026.
- All other domestic violence matters will be continued to July 10, 2026.
- Civil continuances will be issued by court order per the presiding judge assigned to the case.
Fifth Municipal District (Bridgeview Courthouse)
- All criminal cases scheduled for initial appearance and Electronic Monitoring (EM) violations of conditions of release will be heard at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, located at 2600 S. California Ave., Chicago, IL 60608.
- Felony preliminary hearings will be continued to June 18, 2026.
- All other felony matters will be continued to June 25, 2026.
- All traffic and misdemeanor matters will be continued to July 23, 2026.
- Initial appearances in domestic violence matters will be heard at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, 2600 S. California Ave., Chicago, IL 60608.

First Municipal District – Branch Courts 35 and 38 (727 E. 111th St.)
- Felony preliminary hearings will be continued to June 22, 2026.
- All other matters will be continued to June 26, 2026.
- All incarcerated defendants may appear via Zoom from 26th and California.
The Court is actively monitoring the situation and working with facility personnel and utility providers to restore normal operations as quickly as possible. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
