Marriage Court Temporarily Relocates to Daley Center This Fall to Allow for Renovation, Fresh Look

Announcement, Press Release |

Cook County’s downtown Marriage Court is getting a makeover.

Marriage Court will temporarily relocate to the Daley Center on Monday, Oct. 27, to allow time to remodel the current lower level County Building space with fresh paint, lighting, signage and flooring.

The move will not affect participants, since only Zoom marriages are planned for Oct. 27. The new temporary location opens Oct. 28 in Room CL-25, which is on the Concourse Level of the Daley Center, located in the hallway between 50 W. Washington St. and 69 W. Washington St. under Daley Plaza. Marriage Court participants can enter the space either through the Daley Center or the Pedway at Dearborn Street.

“The renovated space will be more inviting, charming and comfortable for marriages and civil unions,” said the Hon. Judge Diann Marsalek, presiding judge of Marriage Court. “The renovated space will be greatly appreciated. We offer our sincere thanks to Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans and Cook County for providing this enhancement.”

The renovation of the Marriage Court space will include new flooring, multilingual electronic signage that also complies with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements, and improved lighting.

During the transition, signs in the County Building will direct participants to the new temporary space in the Daley Center. The County Building space will reopen on Dec. 2.
